One topic that sparked my interest a lot was “Aggression and Prosocial Behavior: Hurting and Helping Others” on page 549. This topic really sparked my interest because I find it a very important topic especially since I’ve experienced frustration which could lead to aggression; something relating to the topic. All together for a kid to turn into an individual from their social gathering, they should figure out how to get along in this gathering with their friends. Many people have main causes of aggression and I think it’s extremely important to know where it comes from. (American Psychological Association, 2015)

For example, many college students can go through the stress and frustration of being financially unstable or actually not doing good in school, plus any personal issues as well. Things like this can lead to frustration and when frustration builds and there’s no one to talk to about it, it leads to aggression towards others. I think this topic has good importance because many people in the world go through stress and frustration and have no one to communicate with. (American Psychological Association, 2019)

I believe the subfield of social psychology can shed light into this topic because social psychology can help someone reduce aggression or even learn how to avoid it. They can help by forming and fortifying reactions contradictory with aggression. They can also help by compensating elective practices to aggression. Displaying non-aggressive reactions to a problem or dissatisfaction. (American Psychological Association, 2008)

First Memory

My first memory would have to be set in the Dominican Republic, when I was just 12 years old. In this memory, I was sitting on the patio outside in a swinging chair with my grandmother. My grandmother was talking to me about my family and how my father was as a kid. She would also tell me to always remember that education is important and that she always prays that I become a very strong independent woman one day.

I think this memory was the first memory that came to mind because it is a heartwarming memory for me. Growing up, my grandmother has been a very important person in my life. It is very hard that I cannot see my grandmother as she lives in a whole different country and I’m only able to see her whenever I travel to the Dominican Republic. I think this memory is really important to me because my grandmother has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, so it breaks my heart to know those memories aren’t as clear to her as they are to me, all the time we have spent.

In the memory, we were talking about anything and everything and as I was holding her hand she was drinking her little coffee on the other hand. I believe this memory has been so effective in my life because everything I do and any step of success I take, I think of my grandmother because she is the one who pushed me as a young child.
