The topic of altruism in the reading sparks my interest most. It is behavior meant to help another without regard for self-interest. We might have seen this kind of person in our life before. But only a few people are altruists. I guess they are heroes who make the world better. (American Psychological Association, 2016)

American psychologist Homans explained altruism by social exchange theory. He believed there was a relationship where people exchanged things in our society. When altruists help other people, they lose something. But at the same time, they will gain spiritual rewards and acknowledgement. Altruists do gain things they want and need in their behaviors. We just cannot see these spiritual things. (American Psychological Association, 2015)

Helping others is a code of conduct that is recognized and encouraged by society. For the overall interests of society and long-term interests, everyone has a certain responsibility for their own reputation and social responsibility to take the behavior of social requirements. That is why I am interested in altruism. (American Psychological Association, 2006)

First Memory

I cannot really tell when my first memory happened, but I know it was very early. My mom says I was one or two years old at that time.

My first memory was not any special event. It was a scene where I was sleeping at midnight. I was lying on a big bed with both of my parents. My mom was on my left and my dad was on my right. I did not know why I woke up. I could not see anything because it was very dark around. And I felt so hot because my parents were too close to me.

I guess the reason why I remember this thing is I was being so uncomfortable.
